Annie Sloan Sponge Rollers
Want a lovely, smooth finish with your paint job? Want to work quickly while painting or lacquering over large surfaces? Need more coverage while stenciling? Then these sponge rollers are for you! Annie’s sponge rollers are soft on the outside with nice density on the inside, to help you achieve smoother finishes. Comes in 2 sizes: small (2” head, great for trim and small areas) and large (4” head, larger tabletops and trim, etc.)
Some tips for smoother and/or best-applied rolled finishes:
add some water in with your paint, roughly 15%, to help lay down the paint more smoothly and account for roller absorbency.
similarly, always add 10% water to your first coat of either Matte or Gloss Lacquers before rolling them on (we LOVE rolling our Lacquer coats, as this always looks the smoothest and most evenly-applied to us).
we often also do a gentle sand between rolled coats for added smoothness, since even rollers may add a very slight ‘dapple’ texture.
when using a roller to stencil, don’t add water to your paint, and make sure to offload some before rolling over the stencil to make sure paint doesn’t glob through the stencil and bleed underneath.
recharge your rollers on your MixMat with small projects for easy use and cleanup (no roller trays necessarily needed!)
Clean with soap and water to reuse. When you need a new roller head, hop on over to pick up some Roller Refill Packs!
